For good reason, Hua Hin has become a very popular destination for tourists, retirees, golfers, holiday makers and students
Just a 2.5 hour drive from Bangkok and with many transport options available (plus a high speed train rumoured to be coming soon!) Hua Hin is an easy escape from Bangkok and a simple journey from its international airport, Suvarnabhumi (taxis should cost no more than 1800B and there is a VIP bus service direct between Hua Hin<>Suvarnabhumi at around 300B).
Hua Hin is a charming resort town and the Thai peoples favourite tourist spot on account of it being the home and preferred resting place of the much revered royal family. In the early 1920’s the railway from Bangkok connected south to Hua Hin, and the opening of the landmark colonial-style Railway Hotel soon followed. This made it convenient for the royal family and Bangkokians to travel to Hua Hin easily, and established Hua Hin as the top holiday destination among the Thai people. Now Hua Hin accommodates for foreign and Thai visitors with its popular beaches, world class golf courses, numerous five star hotels, resorts and spas.
With this large number of well known high quality hotels chains (Centara, Hilton, Intercontinental, etc) and a huge number of boutique hotels, guesthouses and beach resorts, accommodation in Hua Hin appears readily available, but be sure to book in advance for high season (October-March) and any holiday periods (Songkran, His Majesty the King’s Birthday, etc) when the town gets very busy with both Thai and foreign visitors. It’s actually this mix of visitors that give a good balance to Hua Hin.
Hua Hin also has a massive number of high quality condominiums and housing developments, so many that the choice can be quite bewildering to prospective buyers.
