Pak Nam Pran is the estuary (Pak Nam = estuary) of Pranburi. Here you’ll find a quaint, traditional fishing town with great beaches in the northern stretch and southern tip (Khao Kalok).
At present there is a lot of infrastructure work going on and many improvements along the beach (sea walls, promenades, walking paths, etc) which is a sure sign of big things to come for this area which is growing in popularity with both Thai and international visitors.
Pak Nam Pran town features all modern conveniences such as banks, ATMs, post office, 7-11, Family Mart, etc as sell as several fresh markets, seafood stalls and an evening scene with a lot of food stalls and eating options, in the town and around the beach area.
Unlike Hua Hin, Pak Nam Pran has a beach road which is a joy to cycle or drive down with a virtually constant ocean view from one end to the other. Along here you will find an intriguing mix of 5-star resorts (Evason, Villa Maroc, Aleenta, etc) as well smaller boutique resorts, bars, many restaurants (we recommend ‘Pran Berry‘, though it’s only open for food on weekends, ‘Very Good’ – Thai and western food, ‘The Beach House‘ – popular kite boarding hangout with great food, but there are many more eating options also), souvenir stores, massage pavilions, BBQ shacks, and so on.
This area is well worth a weekend trip and is in easy driving distance to Hua Hin, Pranburi town, Sam Roi Yot national park and Dolphin Bay.
Key features of the area are:
Fresh markets with very reasonable sea food
Beach front dining
Availability of western and Thai food
Several temples
5 star resorts
Vehicle rentals
Massage
Public transport
Several KM of quiet beach
